2005 Spring—Second Council Gathering, Pojoaque Pueblo, New Mexico

The Grandmothers' Council convened in May,2005 for their second council, hosted by the Mayan Grandmother, Flordemayo. Aama Bombo,a Grandmother from Tamang, Nepal, joined the Council, replacing Kusali Devi, who—with much regret—had to resign from The Council.  During their time together, The Grandmothers solidified their alliance, created a mission statement, voiced prayers at sacred Pueblo sites and approved the following projects to further their vision:

  • Development of a web site to disseminate their teachings to adults and children
  • Development of a pilot project with Cheyenne grandmother, Margaret Behan, for local grandmother councils
  • Development of a pilot project to apply permaculture methods to protect their local waters

At the end of their week together, the Grandmother’s Council decided to gather every six months, traveling the world to each other’s home places to cultivate their unified prayer.

2005 Summer—Cultural and Ritual Exchanges
